About Us

Born in Ireland, I've worked for many years in this country. Currently, I live with my wife and our two dogs, Carro and Q, in rural Lincolnshire. Dogs have been a huge part of my life and I have long been horrified by the way we've treated and continue to treat them. Relatives of the wolf, these noble beings chose to live with us many thousands of years ago. For our part, we chose to enslave them. Even today, sales of shock collars, choke chains etc are thriving. Conventional training methods are often based on force, both physical and mental.
Too often we try to make dogs do things they don't want to do, or which they would do if they knew what we wanted. But the problem is we can't 'talk' to them. Or can we? Yes! I believe we can! Instead of using pain, force, fear or gadgets to make them obey us, I believe that through a counselling process I call "The Gentler Way", a process based on respect, sensitivity and kindness, we can build a relationship with our dogs which truly entitles us to call them "Our Best Friends". A relationship which will enable them, through confidence and trust in us, to become receptive to what we are trying to 'say'.
I know we can't do much about the past, but we can about the future - if we're willing to try.
